    Light Trails

I spent an evening with Caroline a few months ago, where we parked at a retirement home and then took a short walk up to the bridge on University near an abandoned Piccadilly.

Once we got up there it was beautiful to see what the world looked like from above. I remember gazing up at the moon as it lay cast in the sky over a field of grass from my balconyesque position and just feeling like all was good in the world when I was next to my best girl seeing  God’s canvas.

So anyway, this blog is more about what we did once we were up there. If you know what the term long exposure means then you know that when a cameras shutter is left open for a long time lots of cool things can be done like writing words in sparklers or just getting funky pictures called light trails which are the visual recordings of many lights as they move.

So as we took over 10 long exposure shots I watched as countless cars whizzed by that held a seemingly infinite number of people all thinking, talking, debating, day-dreaming and discussing different things. As they moved I couldn’t help but wonder what each was thinking about, whether they were driving alone or with others, whether they were angry, upset, elated, excited or whatever.

Although life has become very impersonal through alot of technology, the things we hold inside our souls are still more than evident in the trails we leave behind for others to see. Just like each driver left a light trail behind that I had the opportunity to capture with my minolta, each of us leaves a trail behind us in life that Ms Brawer would call our legacy.

To some light trails allow everyone to remember you, like the other day one of my friends had his brother dress up in his graduation garb and go to graduation for him. To others its a way to impact others positively, like one of my friends creating an entire club fully devoted to aiding hurting children in Uganda.

To me, my light trail has been something that I think about occasionally but I think I truly do over look it. Reading my yearbook and seeing people who I not only esteem but view as beautiful tell me that Ive changed their life has caused me to really thank God for the abilities Ive been blessed with and the people Ive been allowed to bless with them. Not to praise myself, but it felt amazing to see Spencer, Mackenzie Fay, Colleen, Monica, Miguel Devonish, Kendrick, Keyon and others tell me that I, Aundre Larrow, has impacted their life, that my light trail has led them somewhere they feel they couldn’t have found alone. I love that beyond far beyond anything words can express.

So question, what is your legacy, what is your light trail? How do you show up or act. In a season of change many of my peers and I are hearing many heartfelt goodbyes, but what about you? You might not be graduating or leaving, but if you were what would the people who know say about you?

Has your light guided them home, where you memorable? Now im not talking about being super popular and have seven bagillion people think this about you, but what about just one person, any person.  Have you allowed yourself to leave a light trail by opening up your heart and being true?

May we all come to realize how impactul the beauty inside of us is. Let us live with our light burning bright.
